After Kestaroth left the Mages Elite Guild (See History of Brakaam ), he wandered all of Destinoth looking for work, whether it was bodyguard, assassin, or mentor, until he earned enough money to find a merchant vessel to take him to Korshin. While aboard, Kestaroth stumbled across an artifact of great power. Still a Mage, he was intrigued, and picked it up.
There was a flash of gold light, and he was instantly changed. His staff changed to a sword, his robes to gold armor, and his leather belt to one of pure silver. He became very strong, in both mind and body. When he reached Korshin, he found many people who had lost their powers as well, though in a different way than him (See History of Brakaam ). He and them banded together and created the Warriors Training School. They now swear revenge against the Mages who caused them to lose their powers.
Although he knows it is not true, Kestaroth believes his brother to be at fault for the loss of his powers. Even though the Warriors and Mages war, Kestaroth would never fight his brother, even if he would come at him with a death spell in his mind and on his lips.
Maknus and Kestaroth still meet up and talk every once and a while, but they do so in secret, for if a side knew of them talking, they would both be slain.
